What is this difference between your olive oil and others on the market?
Our extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) is derived from Manzanilla Cacereña olives grown in Sierra de Gata about 30 minutes from the Portuguese/Spanish border in Extremadura, Spain with premium ingredients that pack a punch. (Our olive oil is like our owners - feisty and passionate!) Our olive oil is taken specifically from the first cold press ensuring that we only provide the best quality healthy product. We don’t believe in mixing olive types or oils. The product you are receiving is first rate!
What is a finishing or topping extra virgin olive oil?
AQUA et OLEUM's olive oil is what is known as a finishing or topping oil. (You can use the wording finishing or topping oil interchangeably.) Most chefs would call this a finishing olive oil, which means you wouldn’t cook with it. You would just use it for salads, salad dressings and to finish a dish. They would not recommend sautéing a protein with this oil, as the olive oil has such a strong taste it would change and overtake the flavor profile of what you are cooking. The choice is yours - there are no rules here! Tory loves to use it for roasting veggies, making sauces, and salad dressings. Wait?! What?! I just bought this oil and I can’t cook with it?!
Hold your horses! When we say, chefs recommend you not cooking with our olive oil we mean in the sense of lighting a fire with it or sautéing a protein with it. When heating extra virgin olive oil, the flavor changes and could overpower some of your other ingredients. Of course, we want you to have fun with your olive oil.
So really, what am I supposed to do with this?
Besides the usual suspects like having your olive oil with bread or tomatoes; this olive oil works great in salads, salad dressings, and sauces; as a topping on pizzas or pastas; soups; desserts and so much more! Anything else I should know?
Claro que sí! Our olive oil is nut free, diary-free, vegan, gluten free, and kosher (although we haven’t gotten it officially certified as kosher yet.)
